It’s pretty simple to enjoy a boudoir shoot. This photo session is all about you, so enjoy it! Let yourself feel like a Diva, because during this shoot- you ARE! All you need to do is show up with confidence and a positive attitude and your natural sexiness will shine through. When you arrive we will take a look at the articles of lingerie, bathing suits, and other clothing articles that you brought with you, as well as go over some of the shoe options we have. Since we have already discussed prior to the session what you are looking to get out of your photo shoot, we will know what outfits will work the best. Having fun as a ‘Boudoir Diva’

A boudoir shoot is all about sex appeal, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Some of the best photos come as a surprise when the model is being silly, laughing, or is simply smiling. Bring some of your favorite songs to pump you up and get you excited for the shoot. Remember no matter what size you are, your body is beautiful and deserves a day in the spotlight. Once you loosen up and take in the emotions of the experience, you may feel a sense of empowerment and in the end it’s a confidence boost. If you have any bit of insecurity, then treat yourself and be a Boudoir Diva for a day. Days, months, even years down the line you can look back on the photos to see just how beautiful you are!

We are all so busy working and trying to please other people that we don’t take the time to celebrate being young, healthy, and sexy! The best part is that these photos will be around forever, so when those days come and gravity takes hold you of you, you can pull out your photos from 50 years ago and your grand kids will never believe that grandma was once extremely hot!

A Boudoir Shoot is a time for you to show off your best assets in a sexy, intimate way. Theses photos are a perfect gift for a significant other in your life and leave little to the imagination. The word “boudoir” is French for a private dressing area for a lady. We like to capture these sexy photos in our in-home studio, which has a very intimate feel.

Boudoir Photography doesn’t mean nude, but you are showing skin. Wear what you feel sexiest in and if the photos are a gift, what does your significant other like to see you in? You can wear lingerie, swimsuits, or maybe just a men’s shirt. Even a little role-playing can be fun. A little teasing goes a long way.

Being Prepared for a Boudoir Shoot

Assuming this is your first Boudoir Shoot, you are going to have mixed emotions and a ton of questions. Don’t be afraid to ask, we have heard and answered every kind of question regarding this and will treat your session discreetly. You are probably wondering what a Boudoir Shoot will cost, but ask more questions than that- find out how you can look like the models on the site by preparing for the boudoir shoot. You will be even more pleased with the outcome of the photos!

With our experience of shooting several boudoir shoots, we will be honest with our opinions and if you have second thoughts, we understand and we can toss around ideas to see what you are most comfortable with. On the day of the boudoir shoot we just want to you look and feel your best!

The closer it gets to the boudoir shoot day, the more nervous you may become. We understand completely. You are going to be close to nude (or even fully nude) in front of complete strangers, but that’s why we want to get to know you as a client so that you feel comfortable with us.

Scheduling Your Boudoir Shoot

When we schedule your shoot, we will give you a list of things to do prior to the shoot, such as makeup and hair preperations, lingerie choices, etc.

To get some ideas and inspiration for your boudoir shoot check out some boudoir portfolios online (some of the model portfolios on this site for example) or magazines like Maxim. You get the point. The women look sexy, but they’re not showing it all off. Keep in mind you might want to show most of these photos off, so make sure you bring an outfit for friends, and one for the special someone in your life.

You will need to show up with your hair and makeup done (as well as bring your makeup for touch ups, etc.). You are more then welcome to bring someone along with you if you want a second eye or another opinion.

We aim to keep the photos simple- and the subject in them is YOU- so we don’t like to use a lot of props, settings and things like that. Let’s keep the focus where it belongs – on YOU, the Boudoir Diva!

When you walk in on the day of the boudoir shoot have confidence and feel beautiful. Prior to choosing outfits and poses, we will discuss what you are looking to get out of the session and give you our feedback. We want you to be completely comfortable throughout the entire session. We want to know what body feature makes you feel good about yourself or what the recipient of the photos likes. We also want to know what parts you don’t like, but keep in mind we can make minor changes to most things in post production.

Not every photo needs to be seductive, have fun with this! We will take photos of you laughing, smiling, and being silly as well! Most importantly, remember to breathe! Nerves can get the best of you, but we want you to look sexy and holding your breath doesn’t come across very attractive. Practice posing and breathing in front of your mirror and just relax so we can capture your natural sparkle!

We want the photographs to capture your sexiness. After all that is why you are interested in doing a Boudoir Shoot. So please don’t diet or starve yourself for days before the shoot. You may want to limit your salt intake and carbs on the day of and the day before, but that’s all we suggest (as long as your doctor doesn’t tell you otherwise!). You want to make sure you have enough energy to get through the session. Taking photographs can get exhausting! If you have “problem areas” we will talk about what poses would be flattering and which ones would not work for you. Makeup, hair, wardrobe, and a little Photoshop can fix these issues!

Once we have discussed what you like and don’t like after looking at magazine inspirations and going over outfits, we will make sure you have one of the sexiest days of your life! On the day of your boudoir shoot, you will have nothing to worry about, except looking and feeling your best!

Q & A for Boudoir shoots

Q -

Do you retouch the images?

A -

All individual images chosen as part of a package (or purchased as an add-on to a package) get a full, professional retouch and we send you the images to review before they are finalized. We also will often take certain special requests on the retouching. Not every photographer will do this for you.

Q -

Will my images be posted on the Internet for the public to see?

A -

NO. We take your privacy very seriously and do not post any of your images on the Internet (except for your password-protected online download gallery). The images you see on our web site were posted by permission.

Q -

Do you limit the number of poses?

A -

We’ll gladly shoot as many poses as we have time for during your session. You will receive screen-sized, watermarked copies of these pictures to select your final proofs from.

Q -

Can I bring some example photos?

A -

Feel free to e-mail us ideas or bring images along to the shoot and we’ll use them for inspiration.

Q -

Do I have to look like a model?

A -

Our goal is to make women of all sizes look beautiful and we use a combination of posing/lighting/retouching to accomplish that.

Q -

Do I have to take my clothes off?

A -

We let customers decide how much to show in the images. Some customers do the entire session in lingerie while others decide to try some implied nudes or classy/art nudes. A bare shoulder or headshot with some cleavage can make a great gift. If you’re very worried about revealing too much, pin-up is a flirty style where you show less than you would at the beach.

Q -

What is an implied nude?

A -

Some customers like to try “implied” nudes which means it looks like you are nude but any racy parts are strategically hidden. A popular implied shot is topless in jeans with your back to the camera and your hands covering up top as you look back toward the camera. You will see implied nudes in many fashion magazines. Jennifer Aniston has done a number of implied shoots.

Q -

Can I bring a friend?

A -

You can definitely bring a friend to cheer you on! You and your friend can even book back-to-back sessions.

Q -

What about hair/makeup?

A -

You can do your own hair/makeup or visit a nearby salon.

Q -

Who will be on set during the shoot?

A -

My wife and I work together as a team, and other than that it will just be you and anyone you may have brought with you.

Q -

What should I bring?

A -

In addition to lingerie, clients often bring their man’s favorite shirt or tie. Shiny (or fun) shoes are great to bring as well. Sparkly jewelry can be a good accessory. Stockings can be fun. If your man is into sports then maybe bring his favorite sports jersey. We can get some great shots with just jeans and a white tank top.

Q -

How should I prepare?

A -

Make sure your nails (both hands and feet) are in good shape. Press-on nails have been a good solution for some clients. If you go to a tanning salon, do it a few days in advance of the shoot if possible. Don’t worry if you have a few breakouts, bruises, blemishes or scars. We take care of those during the retouching process.

Q -

What if I get nervous?

A -

Most customers tell us they are a little nervous at the beginning but after a few minutes of shooting they start to get the hang of it.

Q -

What if I have breakouts/scars/bruises or stretch marks?

A -

For individual images chosen as part of your package (or as an add-on) we do a full glamour retouch which includes cleaning up any breakouts/scars/bruises. Let us know if there are specific things you want us to address during the retouching (for example, one client asked us to remove a tattoo and some clients mention stretch marks and tummy pooches). You will have a chance to review the retouched images before they are finalized.
